How to create a Holiday dessert table in 3 simple steps | League City & Dickinson

So you're hosting Christmas or a holiday event this year, and you plan to do a dessert table. But you don't just want a bunch of desserts set on a table.... you want it to look intentional and thoughtful.

I recently threw a winter-theme baby shower for my sister, so today I am going to show you 3 simple steps for how to make a stunning holiday dessert table without it looking thrown together!

Step 1: Get height

Part of what makes dessert tables sort of "whomp whomp" is when everything is the same height. This is a simple fix!

Tip: cake stands and layered dessert trays help you get height....or a macaron tower! Put your cupcakes or pastries on on a cake stand instead of just a plate.

Step 2: Biggest in the back

Pick your largest items and place them in the back half of the table or towards the ends. I'm talking cakes, macaron towers, cupcake towers, etc. those go in the back, and then smaller, flatter items can go in the front. This makes them accessable to reach while not blocking other, smaller items.

Step 3: Decorative accents

Dessert tables can be boring if it's just the dessert! Don't be afraid to layer non-edible (or even edible) elements on the table!

You can see here below I used a neutral table runner and layered fresh garland, pine cones, dried oranges and fresh cranberries between the desserts. Get creative with it!

BONUS TIP: You don't have to provide all the desserts yourself! If you want to, that's great, but I find that a combination of purchased treats with homemade helps make a gorgeous dessert table come together more easily. For example: buy the cake and cupcakes but make the cookies and fruit/cheese board yourself.

I hope you enjoyed this simple dessert table tutorial, and if you are in the League City/Dickinson area, when you are planning your next event, be sure to order some elements of your dessert table from me to make things easier for you! Macarons, macaron towers, and cakes are a great way to elevate a dessert table.
